About the TEAM
Hex&Vex (read as “Hex and Vex”) is a creative project based in Valparaíso, Chile, and pushed forward by its three members: Isa (vocalist, logistics, direction), Isi (main producer, backings, lead guitar), and Val a.k.a “Täri” (rapper, vocalist, writer, composer). Our mission is to create ethical music, using AI as a tool to enhance our creative abilities instead of replacing them. We hope to move people with our sound and lyrics, motivating them to work out for a better world and to strengthen our communities as artists as well as people. The release of our single “Make It Undone” is what we consider to be a statement on how creative forces can be found everywhere, producing exciting results when mixed properly.
About the SONG
Make It Undone is a song about anxiety, uncertainty, and the undying hope that comes with looking out for the future to come. In a reality where everything seems to be crashing dow,n we believe that it’s possible to scream for a light to guide our paths, or to fight for the peace we want in the world. With various influences from symphonic rock and nu metal, we try to evoke a hopeful melancholy in the sound to make it not only enjoyable to listen to, but also capable of making you feel the emotions leaking in the song. In a world where people are threatening to use AI to replace creativity and human passion, we try to twist it by using it to give stronger support to our own artistic power.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
As artists in the making, we value our creative abilities for producing music and everything that it entails, so we focused the AI usage for technical aspects as well as narrowing references for inspiration; that way, we could pursue the creative process with a sturdier base. For most of the research used in the song we used DeepSeek for its premise to deliver great results with less environmental impact, and instead of, for example, asking it to make us a melody or chord progression, we gave it references of artists and songs we wanted our song to sound like and we asked it to sum up what kind of keys and arranges they used so we could create a new one ourselves, emulating the techniques of those we were looking up to. For the cover art, we asked Ideogram to generate references based on the ideas we had, and then we took them and drew an original one based on the different options it gave us. We followed the same process for the band’s logo. Finally, we used BandLab’s Mastering AI to finish the song, making the AI useful not only for the creative process, but also for more technical needs the track had.
