The AI Song Contest is organized entirely by volunteers, and we rely on the community to help us keep it running. If you're able to, we'd be grateful for a small donation - think of it as buying us a coffee (3-7€ or whatever feels right where you're based). It helps us keep the contest going and growing. This is entirely optional and never required to enter - just a way to help out if the contest is something you value. You can donate via Patreon.

What tools to use:

For the purposes of completing your team's process document, it is important for judges to be able to assess the level and manner of the use of AI in each entry. This includes, but is not limited to, a description of the data used to train the AI model. Where this is difficult or impossible to assess, the AI Song Contest reserves the right to disqualify such entries. We therefore encourage entrants to explain their processes as thoroughly as possible.

If you have any doubts - read our Values or get in touch with us.

Rules and

regulations

Basic rules

  • Submissions for which the only human input involved is prompting – with no further editing or manipulation of audio (i.e. fully-generated AI outputs) – will be automatically disqualified. The AI Song Contest applies current international norms concerning the amount of human involvement necessary for the creation of an original work of human authorship, and we therefore will not consider entries which are created exclusively through prompting.

  • You have to use AI in your creative process and describe how you have used AI and data.

  • Your entry is no longer than 4 minutes.

  • Each team may submit only one song. If multiple submissions are received, only the most recent version will be evaluated.

Lyrics

Each competing team is free to decide if lyrics are part of the song and the language of the lyrics.

Deliverables

The deliverables are:

  • Audio file of the recorded song (mp3 or wav, 44.1 Khz, 16bit)

  • Complete submission form

  • Imagery of the team and any artwork for the song

  • A writeup describing the process the team took to create their song — The Process Doc Click Here to download

To compete, all deliverables except the Process Doc must be submitted by 28 August 2026.
Submission of the Process Doc is optional at this stage. However, if your team advances to the semi-finals, you must be able to submit the Process Doc within 7 days of notification.

Team representation

No human contestant and/or artist may compete for more than one team in the AI Song Contest in a given year.

Results

The winner of the AI Song Contest will be the team with the song(s) which has/have obtained the highest combined number of points from the professional jury and the international audience.

Tie situations

In case of a tie for the first place, as well as any other situation where a tie occurs after the points from the result of the votes and the AI panel have been combined to determine the final ranking, the winner will be the song which has obtained the highest rank from the professional jury.

Sharing

Teams are encouraged to share their songwriting process with the audience, and algorithms, models and codes open source.
