In its 4th year, the AI Song Contest has grown from a small experiment to a worldwide contest. Started by the Dutch broadcasting organization VPRO, the first contest saw 11 teams compete. Since then, the contest has grown to a regular of 35+ teams each year, and the field of AI in music has changed drastically. This session will give an overview of the AI Song Contest, presented by this year’s organizing team: Rebecca Leger, Dr. John Ashley Burgoyne, Ryan Groves and Dr. Natasha Mangal. They will discuss the challenges of running a contest, defining a rubric for AI co-creation, identifying rights issues and managing the changing climate of the perception of AI.

Panel: "AI for Galician Culture"
This panel connects different perspectives on how generative AI can help preserving cultures but also making minority cultures more visible in the digital space:
Iria de Dios-Flores and Carmen Igleas will present Nós Project (Proxecto Nós), an initiative aimed at providing the necessary resources (datasets, tools, etc.) to integrate Galician into cutting-edge language-centric AI systems, thus enabling the natural use of Galician in human-machine interactions. Andrés Piñeiro Martín will present on how his work contributes to achieving language equality in the digital age, focusing their effort in languages with few resources like Galician with e.g. the Multilingual Voice Conversational Assistants.
Carmen Mateo will shed light on language technologies based on AI algorithms that have immense potential but there is also a technological gap between languages. In this presentation, she will show the situation of Galician in comparison with other languages, based on the study carried out in the European Language Equality (ELE) project. The main conclusion is that there is a limited number of resources, products and technologies for Galician. The situation of Galician therefore needs to improve. It is of great importance to raise awareness and support initiatives that can reverse this situation.

Panel: “Generative AI & Ethics”
The irruption of generative AI has been a milestone in the history of Artificial Intelligence, with notable advances that have captured global attention. While most AI experts agree that the benefits of this technology outweigh its risks, there is some concern about AI in society, possibly due to its portrayal in science fiction and sensationalist headlines. However, the risks are more related to people's vulnerability to issues such the appearance of bias in some AI systems. In addition, a new concern has recently emerged: the considerable energy demands of AI, particularly large-scale models such as ChatGPT.
