About the TEAM
Gata Rubia is an independent chilean music solo project led by filmmaker Danae Silva. Its alternative pop, lofi and urban sonority, produced by her, blends in with real life sounds which operate musically on different levels, adding each song a certain cinematographic layer. The voice has great protagonism and a strong presence, but, just as much as the instrumental aspect, Gata Rubia's songs rely on meticulous work to immerse the listener into a solid ambience. The project itself dialogues constantly with the simbolic figure of cats, this is a strong element in the whole conceptualization musically, narratively and its overall aesthetic.
About the SONG
This is an instrumental song dedicated to cats. It is an ode for them because they have changed my life, specially one of them, Sisi, so I produced a song which attempts to express different emotions and feeling regarding sharing your life with a cat, responding to this daily energy with the lofi overall musical aesthetic. It has a light and cozy vibes to it, but this is also intercepted by more dense sounds, which I link to constantly integrating the fact that their life cycles are different, dealing with their deaths, or even thinking about the injustice that animals live. As intense as this relationships can be, at the end of the day, you just feel infinite gratitude and a certain spiritual overwhelm, because they are great life and love masters who hold enormous life lessons for us.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
I mostly worked with 11Labs and Splice to create this song. First, I asked 11Labs to generate cat sounds, I tried all kinds of prompts so I could receive more experimental and intervened cat sounds. After a while, I started receiving very interesting results, everytime more musicalized. I ended up with a few solid samples, and there was one in specific which included a ritmical cat meow and a percussion with a certain bpm, so i decided that would my main base of work. With an IA chord and bpm detector I got the info I needed to look for more complementary samples on Splice. I gave the song an structure and then started a detailed work in its instrumentals for its emotional progression, relying on Splice and constantly creating and inserting IA intervened cat sounds to create leading melodies and interesting secondary layers, in 11Labs. After the song's nature and needs were clear, I stared complementing everything with specific prompts in 11Labs, for example asking for risers made out of cat sounds, a synthesized cat sound in a certain key for a transition, or a ritmical cat purring to have a "bass", so I could wrap up the product.
