About the TEAM
Pablo Alonso, Raimon Aranyó, Guillermo Cambara, and Jordi Pons form a team with diverse experience across academia and industry. Pablo is a researcher at the Music Technology Group of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Raimon is an engineer at Dolby Laboratories, Guillermo is a researcher working at Amazon, and Jordi Pons does research at Stability AI. Having first met at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and later at Dolby, they share a common interest and a strong background in AI, music, and engineering.
About the SONG
Our goal is to create interactive AI music that sounds as AI as possible, while remaining relatable for mainstream audiences:
1. Interactive.
2. AI sounding.
3. Relatable.
We experiment with three main ideas:
1. Interactive with generative AI. We use AI not merely as a tool, but as a dynamic artistic medium. Our goal is to make the listening experience interactive by relying on modern generative AI. Beyond composition, mastering, and sound design, AI is used during playback. Transforming the audience from passive listeners into creative participants.
2. Brainrot AI sound. We embrace AI’s ability to make sound that’s both uncanny and brainrot.
3. Relatable Rhythms. Even with strange textures or generative sounds, we make music with relatable danceable beats.

About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
Our main goal is to make the listening experience interactive by relying on the capabilities of modern generative AI.
Our interactive/generative AI track is available online: https://brnrt-player.duckdns.org/
To align with the guidelines, we are submitting an audio file that represents a rendition that we obtained through our interface.
Yet, to fully experience the project as intended, we recommend visiting our interactive/generative AI track online.
Generative music is also called indeterminate music. Or chance music. Or stochastic. Or aleatoric. And has a long history rooted in algorithmic and experimental approaches to composition.
We view AI as an artistic medium that is generative, stochastic, and ephemeral, and draw inspiration from the pioneering ideas of generative music artists (see https://artintech.substack.com/p/generative-music-ogs).
We used AI exclusively for sound design, via generative audio-to-audio transformations with Stable Audio, Stable Audio Open, and Neutone Morpho.
The BRAINROT AI transformations in our website are audio-to-audio transformations of the stems in our original composition CULOCODO.
All aspects of the composition, including melody, harmony, rhythm, and arrangement, were entirely created by us without the use of AI.
We did not use AI for mixing, and used LNDR for mastering.
