Sagans is creating music and visuals with the help of artificial intelligence. The project formed in 2022 in London strongly believes that artificial intelligence is the key to unlocking new creative possibilities, something that is truly unique and expressive.
About the SONG
"Coherence " is all about a city that is constantly changing and evolving. The main character gets lost and has to adapt to the changes, trying to find her place in this infinite city, the eternal search for a real meaning.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
AI is a way of pushing further the artistic limits. I was very tired of always using the same music plugins, some very similar samples and AI appeared like a way of going somewhere where no human artist can go. I guess my music composition process won’t be very technical nor scientific compared to the other teams as for me AI is only a tool to give original ideas to human artists and this track would never have been the same without the AI input.
I wanted a track with a bit of nostalgia in it, some sadness, some hope sometimes – I knew that Jukebox AI could be a great ally to create the atmosphere I had in mind but I also knew that a lot of human production would be necessary. I wanted something which sounds powerful, elaborate, and which can give a lot of emotions, whether the emotion is actually created by the machine, the human artist, or the synergy of both. My vision was not only on the music side but also on the visual side. I wanted this track to go with the AI music video. I had a specific objective in mind: when someone will watch the music video, this person has to get a human emotion but also feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated - questioning the place of the human artist versus machine. The music composition has to be at the service of this specific end goal.
